Privacy Policy

Scope and controller

This policy explains how CrowWay handles information for the CrowWay website and mobile app. CrowWay is responsible for the information covered by this policy.

CrowWay is a route-planning app, not an emergency, safety, or tracking service. Do not submit sensitive personal information, such as health, financial, government-ID, or personal-safety information, unless a feature clearly requires it. The service is not directed to children under 13.

Website data

The website stores language and cookie-preference choices in browser local storage. Google Analytics is off unless you opt in through the cookie controls. Marketing storage is also off unless you opt in; the website does not currently use that preference to run a marketing tag.

The website links to app stores, YouTube, email, the support service, Google Maps, and Google Places. The interactive web demo requests browser location only if you press its current-location control. It sends place-search queries to Google Places when search is configured; its temporary stops and calculated route stay in the browser session unless you submit them elsewhere.

When you use the support form, we collect your name, email address, selected topic, message, IP address, browser user-agent, and Cloudflare Turnstile verification result. We use this information to prevent abuse, receive, store, and respond to your request. Depending on the configured delivery method, support requests are stored in CrowWay’s Cloudflare D1 database or sent through Brevo email delivery.

App route and location data

The mobile app processes the locations you enter, dropped pins, route lists, route history, priorities, preferences, and route calculations to provide route planning. Route lists and history are stored locally on your device by default.

Precise device location is used only after you grant the operating-system permission and use a feature that needs it, such as centering the map or setting a route start or end point. Camera access is requested only when you choose to scan a route-list QR code.

Traditional routing calculates straight-line costs on the device. Street routing is a Premium, server-only feature. To check coverage, enforce entitlement and a daily quota, and calculate road distance and geometry, CrowWay sends the route coordinates and an anonymous, server-issued installation credential to its API. Street routing requires internet access, supported coverage, and an eligible subscription; it is limited to 15 distinct calculations per UTC day per installation. If it is unavailable, unsupported, over limit, overloaded, or fails, the app falls back to traditional routing and shows a notice.

The current app does not download street-routing databases, MBTiles, or OSRM graphs to the device. Map display and place search may use Google Maps Platform, including Google Maps and Google Places, when configured. CrowWay’s server routing uses OpenStreetMap-derived data and Geofabrik extracts; applicable attribution is shown where that content is displayed.

Route-list sharing, export, import, and QR codes can include location names and coordinates. Share only with people you trust. Any recipient, device, app, or service you choose for sharing processes the shared data under its own practices.

Payments, subscriptions, and stores

CrowWay Premium subscriptions or purchases are handled through Apple App Store or Google Play unless the app clearly states another billing provider. Store account, payment, refund, cancellation, tax, and family-sharing rules are controlled by the applicable store.

We receive limited purchase and entitlement information, such as product identifier, transaction or purchase-token identifiers, subscription status, renewal state, expiry, and the anonymous installation credential used to verify access. Apple or Google remains the billing source of truth; CrowWay uses this information to verify and restore purchases, prevent fraud, enforce access, and provide support.

Cookies, analytics, and communications

The app may display AdMob ads when ads are enabled for a release. AdMob may process device and advertising information under Google’s policies. CrowWay can configure requests as non-personalized; personalized advertising requires the permissions and consent required by applicable law and platform rules. Active Premium or no-ads access normally suppresses ads unless the app clearly states otherwise.

The app keeps local ad-performance and app-performance records. If a release enables a third-party analytics provider, that provider may receive the event and device information configured for that release. The website’s Google Analytics remains opt-in. YouTube walkthrough embeds use the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain where possible. Apple, Google, Cloudflare, Brevo, YouTube, app stores, mapping providers, OpenStreetMap-related providers, and Geofabrik process information under their own notices.

Retention and deletion

Website preferences remain in your browser until you change them or clear local storage. Support records are retained only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, prevent abuse, protect the service, and meet legal, accounting, or operational obligations.

You can delete locally stored route data using in-app controls, reset the app, or uninstall it. Deleting the app does not cancel a store subscription or delete records held by app stores, CrowWay’s API, support systems, or other services; those records follow the relevant retention practices.

Privacy rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information. We may need to verify your request before acting on it. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may complain to the relevant privacy regulator, including the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner where applicable.

Where consent is required, non-essential website analytics and marketing storage require opt-in consent, and precise location and camera access require operating-system permission. You can withdraw consent through cookie controls, browser settings, app settings, or device permissions. CrowWay may process information outside your country through the providers described in this policy.
